History of Uganda Martyrs Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) is a faith-based private university established in 1993 and owned by the Episcopal Conference of Catholic Bishops of Uganda. UMU started with two faculties, 84 students and 7 staff members.UMU now has a total enrolment of 3,667 students following full-time, weekend and distance-learning Programmes. UMU’s main Campus is located in Nkozi Sub County in Mpigi District, in the Republic of Uganda and on the equator, 82 Kms west of Kampala along the Kampala – Masaka highway overlooking Lake Victoria. UMU’s Campus is environmentally friendly and ideal for study, learning, and reflection.
